Flooding Latest – 24 February 2022

The River Severn peaked between Bewdley and Worcester on Wednesday evening and we are seeing a steady but slow recession along the length of the River as flood plains start to drain. A Severe Flood Warnings remains in force at Wribbenhall (Beales Corner) at Bewdley, however this will be removed this afternoon, the 24/2/2022.

The Severe Flood Warning at Ironbridge was removed yesterday (Wednesday) evening.

Operational barriers are in use at Frankwell in Shrewsbury; Ironbridge and Bewdley. Beales Corner barriers remain in place, however water is now receding and the barrier is no longer being overtopped.

Gates are closed at Upton and Uckinghall, pumps are operational at Kempsey and Powick, and demountable barriers are deployed at Hylton Road, Worcester.  Flood Warnings have been issued along the River Severn.

The River Wye levels are continuing to fall. The demountable barriers in Hereford have been removed. Although some rainfall is expected tonight and Thursday, this is not going to have a significant effect on river levels. We continue to closely monitor the situation.
