Summit produces cost of living action plan

An action plan to help people with cost of living difficulties is being discussed by Wyre Forest District Council’s Overview and Scrutiny Committee.

The draft plan has been put together following an emergency cost of living summit. The event was attended by the council’s partners from across the district. It explored how organisations can provide more local help for those who are struggling.

The plan focuses on how organisations are looking to work together to highlight services. Ways people can save energy and reduce their fuel bills is another target of the plan. A key action is to set up accessible warm spaces and helping the council’s financial inclusion team to offer support in the community. Funding is available for community groups wishing to set up a warm space. For more info to contact Rahma Dahir, Wyre Forest District Council’s Recovery Programme Officer or 01562 732533.

Councillor Nicky Martin, Wyre Forest District Council’s Cabinet member with responsibility for Housing, Health and wellbeing said:

“Locally we want to support people who are struggling and work even closer with our partners. By coming together as communities and neighbours, we can provide practical support to one another, just as we did during the pandemic.”

The Overview and Scrutiny Committee is being held at 6pm on Thursday 1 December at Wyre Forest House. The agenda for the meeting, which includes the draft action plan, can be read by visiting
