Community initiative to light Bewdley Bridge

Bewdley as a Community has got together to lighten the mood with a huge Christmas cheer up to the town in these challenging times.

Bewdley Town Council, Bewdley Civic Society and local company Light Ideas International Ltd are going ahead with a joint project to light Bewdley Bridge after securing permission from Worcestershire County Council Highways.

The bridge will be lit with a colour changing light display during Christmas and the New Year festive period. Bewdley Town Council and Bewdley Civic Society have shared the costs.

Bewdley Mayor Cllr. Anna Coleman said: “Bewdley is at its best when the community are joining together, a great result with a lot of work has been done by many.”

Bewdley Civic Society Chairman Richard Perrin commented: ”The Civic Society is delighted to work with the Town Council and Light Ideas on this excellent project which it hopes will be a morale booster  for the people of Bewdley in these difficult times.”

Richard Heath from Light Ideas International Limited commented “As a long-standing resident of Bewdley it’s great to be able to participate in such a worthwhile project.  It’s been a tough year for everyone and if lighting the bridge brings a little pleasure to our town then I’m only too happy to assist. Big thanks to Anna Coleman & co for gaining permission so quickly. Let there be light!”
